History of the Medallic Art Company
With his employment at risk, Henri thought there could be a chance the Janvier machine could be used to do reducing work for sculptors locally rather than sending them overseas for reductions.
He contacted several famous sculptors of the day including John Flanagan, Victor David Brenner, and Bela Lyon Pratt. Pratt was a sculptor in Boston who had heard about the machine and had inquired about cutting dies from his models.
Henri rushed from New York to Boston to show him samples from the Janvier machine, and returned to New York with his first medallic die-reduction order in hand.
